A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle
Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):
I guess we all should’ve known that it would be only a matter of time before Millennials got the Laurel v. Yanny debate wrong. Millennials are ruining everything else, so why not this too?
According to a Huffington Post survey of 1,000 respondents, “Yanny” holds the advantage over “Laurel” 35 to 31 percent, with 14 percent not sure. Americans under 30, they’re hearing “Yanny,” but a lot of them also voted for Granny Hillary, so I’m sure I trust their judgement. Those 65 and up, the wise, older, and Trump voting, are hearing Laurel.
According to the report, age may be the reason that some hear “Laurel” and others wrongly hear “Yanny,” as the article stated that younger people are more attuned to the higher-frequency sounds, which is why they hear “Yanny.”
Of course, this isn’t the case for everyone. I’m a millennial and I hear Laurel, and I voted Trump, so maybe I’m just wise beyond my years.
(Sound bite of Laurel playing). Seriously, it’s so obvious it’s Laurel.
