A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle
Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):
Tuesday, I praised the Super Bowl Champs, but today I’m here to criticize not just the city of Philadelphia, but the sports culture as a whole, and all the ridiculousness that happens in the streets of America when a team wins a championship.
It is absolutely absurd what happened in Philly after the Eagles won. Just because a sports team wins a game, doesn’t give you the right to tear down your city, break windows, and smash vehicles. Could we try to hold ourselves to a higher standard?
There isn’t nothing wrong with celebrating a win, but committing acts of crime and stupidity is not ok.
It’s so bad, Hardee’s posted a Tweet that stated the hamburger place planned to give out free biscuits to Philly fans, but could only do it if they didn’t burn down the building.
I’ve never understood the whole tear down your city when you win. Looks like that’s something you’d do if you lost the game. Either way, it’s uncalled for.
If this is the reaction people are gonna have, maybe we shouldn’t have football games. We can do better than this.
