A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle
Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):
I’ve had more free time lately so I’ve been catching up on TV shows and finding new ones to watch, and while watching a British show, called “The Missing,” it’s about a family on vacation that has a kid that goes missing, I’ve noticed that there are hardly any, Christian or strong religious storylines in shows now. Barley any mentions or references to God at all.
On this show, a lady at the hotel told the couple that they were in her thoughts, not her thoughts and prayers, but thoughts. If I had a kid that went missing, I’d be praying, begging God for help.
Granted Europe and the U.K. are more progressive and secular than America, but our media is no better. If you watch shows, even shows that are intense situations like this one, the solutions are becoming more man focused, than God focused. Especially if it’s a show set in the future, technology is the solution, Artificial Intelligence, never God, never religion.
I know that Christianity and God has never been the focus of TV, but in the past you would see more discussion of and mentions in the stories about religion than today’s new programming on TV.
If media is a reflection of our culture, if you turn on primetime television, you’d assume that we are a very secular society, and look how our society is falling apart around us because of this.
