The XFL Is The New NFL As It Plans To Promote American Values 1/26/18 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):

Welcome to the XFL! WWE founder Vince McMahon announced Thursday that the XFL is back, and this time it’s real football. No gimmicks. It’s not WWE on a football field. This is a real league.

I’ve already discussed on here how the XFL could give the NFL a run for its money by going patriotic, politics free, and in the press conference that’s exactly what he said is the plan.

It sounds that the XFL will be the NFL of old. Red, white, blue, and family friendly. He said that players won’t be able to take a personal political stand on the field, they’ll respect and stand for the anthem.

He told ESPN that "People don't want social and political issues coming into play when they are trying to be entertained. We want someone who wants to take a knee to do their version of that on their personal time."

He said this is football reimagined.

He wants the games to be shorter. Around two hours. No cheerleaders, which is a departure from the original XFL, and no players can have a criminal record to play.

I believe the XFL 2.0 has a real chance at success. What he’s describing is what people have wanted from the NFL, which is just a fun, entertaining family experience. Not politics. If he does this right, and promotes it as a family friendly and Americana alternative to the No Fun League, the XFL has a chance to be around a for a while. Season 1 of the new XFL kicks off in 2020.
