Trump Going Independent Would Be a Big League Mistake That Would Put MAGA in Jeopardy 9/12/17 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

I’m starting to hear some in the media that I trust, discuss and predict that Trump, maybe within the next year will dump the GOP and go independent. And boy would that be a big league mistake.

No doubt Trump is his own man and is already independent in thinking, but going outside the two party system would be a mistake. He knew in order to win in 2016 he had to run as a Republican, even if he isn’t a full fledge conservative, he understood that’s how the game is played and you cannot win if you go third party.

It’s understandable that he’s mad at the Republican leadership because they have been less than helpful to him, but if he goes out on his own, it’ll be really hard to win reelection. Although, he does have a coalition of support of people that are not Republican, plus Tea Partiers, and even some Democrats and Republicans, but I’m not sure that’s even people that would give him a majority of votes needed to overcome the democrat ticket plus whatever the Republicans would offer up in a moderate, Never Trumper candidate, probably a Kasich/McCain losing ticket, but even a losing ticket like that, would still pick up enough Republican votes that could harm Trump and throw it to the Democrats.

Of course, if anyone could somehow pull off a third party victory, it would be Trump, People said he wouldn’t win the nomination or the election and he proved people wrong, but having one opponent versus having a Democrat and a Republican against Trump, that’s a whole different ballgame.

The best thing for Trump to do is to try and have a better relationship with the Republican Party because if they won’t work with him as their leader, they’ll never work with him as an outside, independent President. Mr. President, if you wanna go independent, wait until after the 2020 election!
