Can Malls and Retail Stores Survive Amazon and Online Shopping? 4/10/17 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):

It’s not looking good for American retail companies and malls as many stores have announced their closing some locations, filing for bankruptcy or just shutting down all together. Payless Shoe store, H.H. Gregg, J.C. Penney, Sears, these are just some of the many that may not make it as Amazon continues its online shopping dominance and more Americans are skipping malls to shop online or at smaller retailers.  I see malls heading the same way as newspapers, yes, they’ll still exist, but not in their current form and they’ll never be as profitable as they once were. This is how business works though. Times change and you either adapt or die. What’s bad is how so many people are gonna lose their job over store closings, but we live in a digital age, and those jobs are not coming back. Trump cannot even bring them back. I’m Chad Whittle on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
