The Latest Example of the Phoniness of Social Media 4/17/17 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):

Nothing is real on social media! It’s as real as the celebrities in Hollywood! The Daily Caller reports that

”Facebook announced Friday that the company has discovered and dismantled a network of fake accounts that have been rising on the site over the last six months. The result of that purge has caused tremendous damage to one news outlet’s Facebook page in particular — USA Today.”

The newspaper lost 5 million followers as of Friday on Facebook. The scammers in this scam would like pages such as USA Today in hopes of getting new friend requests and followers and then would spam those new friends, which is not a really great way to keep friends. Other sites including CNN, Fox, The Daily Caller among others, saw their likes decline by less than 3%. Just another great example of the phoniness of social media. Just because someone as a big following, doesn’t mean that they are actually that popular but people take it all seriously and are depressed when they don’t receive a 100 likes for posts or comments on photos. Folks, it’s all fake! That’s why I prefer to living in the real world and not the Facebook world. I don’t take it all that serious. I’m Chad Whittle on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
