CEO Thinks Snapchat is Replacing TV for Millennials 3/27/17 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):

The CEO of AOL, which yes, does still exists, at a Paris conference said that Millennials are replacing watching TV with using Snapchat. He said that the app is providing a "fundamentally better experience" than TV is offering young Americans. On Snapchat you can watch short video clips from various magazines and other media providers, but it’s not full thirty or sixty minute shows on there, and even if they had those, no one is gonna hold up a phone for an hour to watch one. They’ll use it to send a quick photo or watch a quick video, but no one is gonna use if for long form content. Millennials are still watching TV shows, just not on cable, they’re using Hulu, Netflix, Amazon. To say that Snapchat is replacing TV is a pretty big leap and I don’t believe it’s providing an overall better experience, because there is nothing like sitting on the couch watching a big screen.
