A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle
Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):
We now live in an age where it is politically incorrect to be happy. Taylor Swift just turned 28 and she posted on Instagram that she has had a great year, and that is what got her in trouble.
Our society’s new judge and jury, the Twitterverse, went into overdrive and got really triggered because Taylor had a happy year. In the age of Trump, you are not supposed to be happy. You are supposed to be miserable and sit around all day contemplating all the problems in the world.
You are supposed to be disgusted that Trump is president and depressed at all of the suffering that is occurring in the world, mostly because of Trump, and maybe not even be able to crawl out of bed because you are so down and out about it.
What they do not understand is that not everybody is disgusted by Trump, and that we don’t feel it’s the end of the world because of him. Most people are not that miserable and depressed on a daily basis. Most people try to enjoy their lives, but we’re not supposed to do that anymore.
Political correctness tells us to never laugh, never joke, never be happy, just be miserable 24/7 and dwell on all of the world’s problems.
Did back things happen in 2017? Yes. When has there been a year that bad things haven’t happen? Should you be concerned about social and political issues
? Yes. Should you also try to enjoy the short life that you have? Absolutely.
Taylor had a great year, no doubt, and I did as well. Twitter trolls should try to look at the glass half-full, instead of being depressed that it’s half-empty.
