The False Hero Worship of the Hollywood Elite and the Real Role Models Our Society Should Admire 10/13/17 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):

I’m not sure how much of a role model Harvey Weinstein has been for people because he’s a behind the scenes kind of guy, he isn’t in the public eye as much as an actor, but he was a titan in Hollywood. He had a lot of influence on the movies you watched because he had a hand in producing a lot of movies.

The Weinstein scandal though shows us once again that the Hollywood elite the prides themselves on being better, smarter and prettier than the rest of us are in fact not people that should be admired or held up in our society as role models.

Doctors, policemen, military personnel. These are the people that should be held up in high esteem, not the Hollywood elite. Our culture places so much hero worship upon the stars of Hollywood and when one of the false idols falls, it really has an effect on a lot of people.

We should encourage kids to admire people that are really making a difference in our society. Not people that play dress up for a living, not that they are not talented or produce some good art, but kids need real role models. And just look at the values of Hollywood. Why does anyone want to promote Hollywood as the oracle of all knowledge of what’s right and wrong? Look how the Hollywood elite lives!
