How Trump Won the Nomination: Style Over Substance 7/15/16 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):

The RepublicTrump convention kicks off Monday in Cleveland and because of that, I believe now is a good time to discuss how exactly Trump won the nomination. This election has become about the future direction of the country, but unlike previous elections this one really presents a fork in the road in regards to which direction we take, and after the past few years people are very concerned about it. Enter Trump. It’s not so much what Trump said, but how he said it. He said things that people agree with, he said things that people wanted to hear. Ted Cruz on the other hand, he has all the book smarts, the conservative credentials, but he has no personality. Trump doesn’t have the conservative smarts, but he has style, he has a personality that plays for TV, he has the pop culture smarts and in 2016 America, style will always Trump substance. If Cruz had a made for TV personality in a way Reagan did, he would be the nominee next week in Cleveland.  I’m Chad Whittle on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
