Is Trump the First Post-Political Party Candidate? 4/29/16 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):

George Washington spoke out against political parties, and the corruption that he said political parties could bring and that pretty much sums up both modern American parties. That quote trigger in my mind a thought on Trump. Donald Trump is the first post-political party candidate. I know at the founding of the country parities didn’t exist, but forgetting that time, Trump is post-party. Even though he’s running as a Republican, he doesn’t fit the Republican mold. He isn’t a conservative, but at the same time, he isn’t a total democrat either. Even people who run third party, independent, they still are associated with a party. Trump on the other hand, even if he ran third party, he would be truly independent and wouldn’t run with a party. Trump doesn’t care what the party line is, he just goes with his gut about what he feels would be best for America and sometimes that fits the GOP, other times it goes against the GOP, and this is why the party bosses are scared of Trump because he’s showing people you don’t have to be beholden to an elephant or donkey.
