A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle
Transcript (may appear different than audio recording):
I don’t have kids, so please excuse my lack of knowledge if this is already happening in school, but there is an article in the Wall Street Journal that discusses why kids should learn to code in school and I totally agree. Learning to code for the internet and computers should be a part of the core of classes and should be considered just as important as reading, writing, math, and science. If the kids growing up today do not learn how to code, their job prospects will be slim in the future as almost every industry will or already has shifted to having an online presence. Kids also should have a basic finance course to teach them how to budget, and plan for retirement. I would also include a course on internet privacy and responsibility since we’re in the social media age. These are all basic skills all kids need to learn and probably their parents as well. I’m Chad Whittle on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
