SMH: The "Word" of the Year is an Emoji. Welcome to Modern America - A Whittle Bit of Commentary 11/18/15

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors)

The Oxford English Dictionary has named the emoji “face with tears of joy” as its so called “word” of the year according to TownHall.com. Yes, you heard that right. A picture of a smiley face is the word of the year. This just goes to show that our language is getting dumbed down. In 2014 the word of the year was vape, as in vapor cigarettes. At least vape is a word and not a symbol. I can hear English teachers everywhere screaming in shock and disbelief. Welcome to modern America. SMH, 4realz, #TrueLife. I’m Chad Whittle on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
