When Newt Gingrich led the Republicans to victory in the 1994 midterm elections, he did it because the GOP had a plan that outlined what they planned to do once they got into office. The “Contract with America” proved that it is always good to have a plan and to have that plan laid out in detail. Unlike most politicians, that just make promises, they actually delivered on many of those promises. Here we are with another midterm election coming up and unlike the class of 1994, the current and potential Republicans have no plan. No blue print as far as I can tell about what they plan to do if they win. They should take a page from the Gingrich playbook and lay out in detail what they plan to do if they win and not only explain but show the American public how their plan would improve their lives. Call it the “Contract with America 2.0,” and also apologize for the political sins they’ve committed, such as spending too much money, and convince the voters that they are going to provide conservative leadership in the House. If they do this, I don’t see how they could lose. I’m Chad Whittle on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
