I read a story on the next pop princess Charli XCX, that has a couple of hits this year including “Boom, Clap” and the summer hit “Fancy” with rapper Iggy Azalea, and the article discussed how her latest album, “Sucker” is her fourth reinvention. The 22 year old British singer has been a MySpacer, goth rocker, chill waver, and now a pop princess. Reading this got me thinking about how fake and phony a lot of people in the pop culture Hollywood media are. They’ll do anything to stay relevant and to gain popularity. Who is the real Charli XCX? Who knows. Does she really believe the stuff she sings? Probably not. I believe a lot of people in pop music and Hollywood doesn’t believe half the stuff they say and perform. They’re just trying to sale downloads. Don’t misunderstand, this isn’t a criticism of her, but it made that thought pop in my head. In fact, as far as albums go, Charli XCX’s new album from a purely music standpoint, regardless of lyrical content, is probably better than Taylor Swift’s latest album. Although, both are cuties. I’m Chad Whittle and what can I say, I’m a Sucker for pop princesses on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
