Sorry, Taylor Swift, but Buying CD's is So 1989, Streaming Is The Future Now - A Whittle Bit of Commentary 11/18/14

11/18/14 (transcript may appear different than audio):

If this commentary offends Taylor Swift, I hope she’ll be able to “Shake It Off,” because this isn’t personal. Taylor Swift recently pulled her music off of online streaming services such as Spotify because she wants her fans to pay $15 bucks for her cd and not stream her new album for basically free. I hate to be the one to bust her bubble, well, I’m not the only one, many are saying this, but streaming music is the future. Actually, it’s the present and with each new album she produces, the amount of people that will be willing to pay for not only her music but other musician’s tunes for $15  is gonna grow smaller and smaller, especially with each passing generation. Teenagers in a couple of years will not even own a CD, much less a collection of cds. And I’m not just saying this because other people are saying it, I have my own Master’s thesis which I just completed that shows that college students are using streaming and online options over traditional music outlets. My research earned me a degree, so it’s gotta be true. Playing music on a CD, is so like, 1989. I’m Chad Whittle on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
