Comedy Club Charging for Laughs (Literally) Due to Taxes A Whittle Bit of Commentary 10/10/14

10/10/14 (transcript may appear different than audio)

Here’s something that isn’t a laughing matter. A comedy club in Barcelona is experimenting with charging users a fee each time they laugh according to the BBC. The way it works is that each time someone laughs software on a tablet on the table charges them a couple euros per laugh. They use facial recognition software to determine who at the table is LOL’ing. The reason they are trying this out is because attendance continues to fall at the club because of taxes. So once again increased taxes is hurting business, this time in Europe. Regardless of where it’s at, in Europe or here in America, when taxes are raised it’s the consumer that suffers. Nothing funny about that. I’m Chad Whittle on A Whittle Bit of Commentary.
